One of the most charming characteristics of Dolenjska region is the preserved traditional rural architecture. The capital of Dolenjska – Novo mesto is famous for it`s archaeological heritage. Something special is the experience of a living museum - with stories and performances of history from the Middle Ages to the Baroque, in which the game and the hospitality of the lady of the castle are intertwined in a unique way. The valley of the Kolpa River was declared as the European Destination of Excellence 2010. Part of the area is protected under the name Kolpa Krajinski Park (Landscape Park). The region has a beautiful, almost Mediterranean climate in the summer, which among other things enables the production of top quality wines and other delicacies.

Novo mesto 

You will discover some secrets and know-how in the production of essential oils of the BF brand, premium beverages and chocolate products of Berryshka, an award winning and internationally renowned quality brand. After the tour of the production process, you will be able to taste all the excellent products and buy them in their store. On our tour we will make a stop in Novo mesto, whose old town is in the meander of river Krka. The city boasts rich archaeological finds and a well preserved old town. Since the archaeological finds from the Early Iron Age represent one of the most important pieces of cultural heritage in Europe, we will visit the Dolenjska Museum to see the archaeological exhibition. You will have free time for sightseeing or lunch.

Otočec and Raka Castle (Living museum)

Otočec Castle is one of the most beautiful sights in the country, which is a must-see for all visitors. The castle is the only castle on the water in Slovenia. It is situated on a picture-perfect island in the middle of beautiful river Krka. The castle surroundings are a wonderful choice for a stroll and relaxation. The unique living museum of Struga castle offers an experience of renaissance and baroque. The castle is not a classical museum but rather a presentation of life through characters that lived in Carniola in the past five hundred years and is filled with adventures of life between the castle walls. In the company of the lady of the castle you will get to know it`s story and history.

Land of Hayracks and wine cellar

Hayracks present a centuries-long achievement of agricultural and livestock activities on country, castle and monastic agricultural estates. They reflect an extraordinary sense of using natural materials and mastery of carpenter’s tradition. Mainly in the Slovenian ethnic territory, hayracks evolved into several types and distinctive shapes which cannot be found elsewhere in the world. That is why the hayrack has become one of the most recognisable features of Slovenia. Tasting in a wine cellar Dolenjska is a land of the special wine – Cviček.  At a guided tour and tasting of top-quality selected wines you will feel the homeliness and all the love that a wine-maker must devote to the noble drops. In addition to the above, you can enjoy a wonderful view.

Tradition & home crafts of Bela krajina

Bela Krajina, a land of white birches and friendly people that preserve the tradition of their forefathers. On one of the homesteads you will get to know how people used to live in Bela Krajina, learn everything about production and processing of flax, creating of unique »pisanice« and »drsanke« and other handicrafts. Beside the presentation you will be able to taste their home-made delicacies.

Visit of a tourist farm and wine tasting

For a perfect experience of Bela Krajina we will stop at one of several excellent tourist farms, relax by the beautiful river Kolpa and experience the beat of the countryside. You will be served home-made lunch. Then you will have the opportunity of boating or swimming in the river. Bela Krajina is famous for it`s high quality wine. For making sure of that, we will visit a renowned winery. You will get to know all about the production of wine in the region during the tour of this special wine cellar. We will finish with the wine tasting, which is accompanied by freshly baked Belokranjska pogača flat bread – a local culinary speciality.
