Vineyard cottage or how we call it “Zidanica” is a traditional facility that is very common in south-east region of Slovenia called Dolenjska.
Vineyard cottages can be found only in Posavska wine region, namely in regions of Dolenjska, Bela Krajina and Bizeljsko-Sremič. The main purpose of vineyard cottages was and still is storage of wine and tools for cultivating a vineyard. Originally small and humble buildings have been nowadays mostly transformed into bigger and comfortable holiday cottages. These are a wonderful choice for an accommodation because of their location in beautiful surroundings that are usually accompanied by a great view. Beside overnight accommodation you can also taste the wines that the owner keeps in the wine cellar of the vineyard cottage.
