Programme ***
Postojna Cave
First, we will take a train to the world-famous cave, where underground karst tunnels and galleries intertwine. The Postojna Cave is the only Karst cave with a Cave Railway, which has been driving visitors for 140 years to view the dripstones and other creations of water. We will also see a part of the tour of the magic cave on foot, along well-arranged and undemanding paths. In an hour and a half guided tour, you will get to know all the most important Karst specialties: the largest, as much as 5 meters tall, dripstone Briljant, the oldest underground post office in the world and the most famous underground animal - the human fish (Proteus anguinus), which is fondly called the baby dragon..

Predjama Castle
Near the Postojna Cave is the Predjama Castle, the largest cave castle in the world. For more than 800 years, it stands in a middle of 123 meters high towering cliff. It is connected with a cave below it with mysterious underground passages. We will tour the castle, which in the 15th century offered refuge to the legendary owner Erazem of Predjama, and was a multiple film scene in the past. In a castle with an exceptional appearance and location and secret access to the cave, the robber knight resisted the besiegers for a year.

Goriška Brda
Goriška Brda are a picturesque wine-growing region, that would be best descibed as Slovenian Tuscany. You will thoroughly explore and taste the region. First, you will get a feeling of the region from the lookout tower Gonjače. The tower with 144 stairs is 23 m high and was built in 1961. In good weather you can enjoy a magnificent view on all four sides of the sky: Brda, Julian and Carnian Alps, Dolomites, Friuli, Trieste Bay, Kras, Vipava valley and Trnovski gozd. For a true experience of hospitality and this wine-growing region, we will take you to the tasting of top-quality wines in one of the best Brda wine cellars. A special mark of Goriška Brda is the medieval village of Šmartno. The settlement, which was probably built on Roman foundations, represented a fort on the strategic Venetian-Austrian border. Today it is an architectural pearl, a cultural monument, unique as a whole and in many details.

Štanjel
Štanjel is one of the oldest settlements in the Karst Region, recognizable by its old village center.Due to its strategic location, the hill was already populated in prehistoric times and was fortified in antiquity. The first written mention of the area dates back to 1402. The characteristic defensive wall from the 15th century protected the inhabitants during the Turkish invasions. The settlement reached the peak of its development in the 16th and 17th centuries, as most of the architectural features of the buildings originate from this period. Between the two world wars, the architect and then mayor of Štanjel Max Fabiani left his mark here. The characteristic of the settlement are narrow streets with stone houses that contain a variety of stonemasonry elements. The allegedly oldest building is the Karst house, built in the 14th and 15th century, a symbol of the ingenuity of the common inhabitants who used stone for the construction wherever possible. The symbol of Štanjel is a unique belfry with a lemon-shaped roof, which was added to the church of St. Daniel in 1609. We will also see the symbol of the settlement - the Štanjel Castle and the cultural monument of national importance, the Ferrari Garden. On returning to your accommodation in Goriška Brda we will take you to the renowned Karst wine cellar to taste the top quality Karst wines and other local culinary delights.

Piran and Sečovlje Salt Pans
The most beautiful place on the Slovenian coast was built on salt. The old port town with the remnants of the medieval wall is completely protected as a cultural and historical monument. We will start our tour in the old town center and first take a boat ride to the Sečovlje salt pans. For centuries salt pans in the northern Adriatic had a great influence on the economy of the countries and city states of the region. The Sečovlje and Strunjan salt pans are the only salt pans in this part of the Adriatic, where they still produce salt and preserve the traditional production process with the daily harvesting of salt. A panoramic boat ride will offer you the most beautiful views of the coast. After a boat ride and a visit to the salt pans, we will spend time on a tour of Piran. We will head towards the city church and continue to the city walls to enjoy a beautiful view. Next we will return to the city promenade along the typical narrow streets. You will be able to see the romantic Mediterranean image of the town yourself and enjoy an excellent Mediterranean lunch. The cosmopolitan seaside town, developed under the influence of nearby Venice, is considered one of the most colorful and photogenic places on the Adriatic coast. In addition to narrow streets and little squares, you will also be able to see the Maritime museum, the aquarium and other sights in town or simply enjoy on the beach.
